Bottlers produce six labeled varieties of bottled water: fluoridated, mineral, drinking, purified, natural-source, and the specialty stuff. A better home-solution for producing good, safe water with healthy minerals intact is to use a selective filtration system to treat your drinking water. You can depend on the healthy quality of the water and it’s a lot cheaper, and more convenient, than bottled.

3. A glass drinking water container protects best against chemical leaching, and some have protective carriers available. If they are impractical for your situation, look for drinking water containers having a “BPA-free” or “No HDPE” label.

4. For traveling, there are inexpensive “sports” bottles that will filter the chlorine, other chemicals and lead from chlorinated city water. They will also cut the cost of buying bottled water while providing a convenient drinking water container.
